China (formerly titled The Voice of China) will be returning with a brand new season, and fans are looking forward to it as they have just announced that Hong Kong Cantopop singer-songwriter Eason Chan will be joining Jay Chou as coach on the show.
Eason, commonly praised to be Hong Kong’s God of Songs after the reign of the Four Heavenly Kings, was apparently a highly sought after voice coach by the producer of the show, who extended him invitations to join the show as a coach since 2013.
However, the 42 year-old was unable to commit previously due to his busy schedule as he was preparing for his world tour. Fortunately for fans and participants, Eason agreed to join the next season of the competition as a coach since it will not clash with his other projects.
Eason will be coaching alongside Jay, who is a returning judge after the show’s first run and whose mentee, Nathan Hartono, emerged second runner-up at this year’s edition of the competition.
The addition of Eason to the coaching team has sparked speculation among fans and media that one of the other judges would be leaving the show.
In response to the rumour, the production team has said that the return of the other coaches, Na Ying, Wang Feng and Harlem Yu are unconfirmed, but “the coaches from the first season will most likely be present”.
