(CRI) 3D action film "Brothers" has opened in theatres on Friday.
The film, starring Li Dongxue and Taiwan singer-actor Peter Ho, tells the story of two inseparable brothers who are torn apart by war and later cross swords in a ruthless way.
When asked if the film contained similar elements to recently released "Captain America," Peter Ho explained the unique features of the upcoming production.
"I've watched Captain America. I feel that film is totally unlike our film. That film is based on heroes people are familiar with. But the characters we have built up are all new to audience members, and also our film highlights the emotional relationship between characters, much more than Captain America."
The film "Brothers" also marks a big turn-over for director A Gan, who is best known in China for a number of thrillers, including 2002 film "Ghosts" and 2004 movie "The Game of Killing."
"Brothers" is facing stiff competition as the game-adapted animation "Angry Birds" opens on the same day.
The movie has been well received by film goers in China in social media.
It has also topped the box office in 37 countries overseas.
"Angry Birds" promotional tour in China has been underway for some time, and included making a surprise visit to the Great Wall and the Bird's Nest, the 2008 Olympic games' main stadium, in Beijing.
The red Angry Bird also headlined the Beijing International Film Festival last month, walking the red carpet with its fellow birds.
The "Angry Birds" have entertained millions of people around the world as a game.
Now as a 3D comedy, it portrays an island where the birds come into contact with mysterious green pigs.
The island is populated entirely by happy, flightless birds except for a trio, including bad-tempered "Red", speedy "Chunk" and the volatile "Bomb."
