(CRI) The total box office of U.S. epic fantasy Warcraft has surpassed 1.3 billion yuan, dominating the Chinese mainland box-office for another week.
Statistics show that the game-based adaptation saw a significant drop of nearly 70 percent in box office after it premiered about two weeks ago.
But with nearly 320 million yuan in weekly sales, the film managed to lead the box office for another week.
Warcraft has overtaken Marvel's Captain American 3, and is running only some180 million yuan behind this year's box office leader, Zootopia.
Given this is only the second week of its release, Warcraft is expected to outrun the sensational Disney animation.
Also from Disney, Finding Dory, a Pixar Studio production, failed to shake Warcraft's box office domination.
But as a sequel to a motion picture classic, it also made a laudable performance of 120 million yuan, running second last week, far better than last year's global hit Inside Out, which only gained 97 million Yuan in China.
In spite of its good reputation, Pixar seems to never take the spotlight in China before. The studio's record holder is Monsters University, which raked in some 210 million.
"X-men: Apocalypse", the third of its series, performed well last week, securing the third place.
The marvel superhero sequel gained another 110 million, with an accumulative box office of nearly 760 million, ranking the sixth among this year's imported films.
Its total sales are expected to surpass "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."
