(CRI) Action thriller Call of Heroes, a Hong Kong and Chinese mainland co-production, starts playing in cinemas from Friday.
Helmed by veteran Hong Kong-based director Benny Chan with a star-studded cast including Louis Koo, Sean Lau Ching-wan, Eddie Peng and Wu Jing, the movie is packed with martial arts action scenes.
Set in a period after the fall of the Qing Dynasty, the film tells the story of how the tranquility of a small fictional town is broken when a warlord kills two people and a child.
But justice isn't served for fear of the warlord's army. Only a few people - a wandering swordsman, played by Peng; a local sheriff, played by Lau; and some others - rise to fight the young villain.
The movie has already been praised for its stunning visual effects during previews held earlier this week.
The film makes use of Screen X cinema technology with 3D effects - which sees images and video projected along the sidewall of the theatre in synch with the front main screen, so audiences are immersed in 270 degrees of content.
Call of Heroes will be released in a total of 19 Screen X cinemas in 12 cities across China.
