Audience, get ready for a mouthwatering food extravaganza that delights both the eyes and the stomach. Final Recipe, which opens in theatres in China on August 27th, tells the story of a high school student entering a MasterChef-like competition and finding his family along the way.
K-pop star Henry Lau, who plays the main character in the film, says he struggled to learn how to cook.
"I almost became bald because of the fire. It's not just a little fire. It's a big fire. So one time, I didn't know and I just put the wine in. I was looking inside the wok and the fire came up and it burned a good bunch of my hair. After that, I knew I had to stand back and then do it."
Actress Michelle Yeoh, who plays a TV show producer, says the film showcases both food and family, two of the most important things in Chinese culture.
"Foreign audiences can see the importance of family to Chinese people, especially for men: the disciplinarian father, the doting grandpa, and the filial grandson. In this movie, we're not only sharing the love of family members but also our favorite food."
So which one of your favorite dishes will be served? Go watch Final Recipe to find out.
