Actor Li Guangjie to Show His Singing Talent on Saturday

Popular TV hunk Li Guangjie, who has starred in many TV dramas including "Du Lala's Promotion", along with famous actress Wang Luodan, will soon land onto a stage for new singing talents.
Li has recently been spotted recording at BTV for a new program "Kua Jie Ge Wang"("跨界歌王"), which is designed to expose excellent singing talents of actors and actresses beyond their already established acting skills.
Mentioning his participation in the program, Li said his decision has been made after a lot of hesitation.
"Before I made up my mind to join this TV program, I'd thought over and over again and was afraid my impro show would disappoint viewers. During rehearsals and the final recording process, some small accidents did take place, but all of which were well under my control."
Earlier, Chinese actor Pan Yueming and Hong Kong actress Nadia Chan have all vowed to stand on the BTV stage as a musician. Meanwhile, actress Liu Tao, Qin Hailu and many other big names are also expected to exhibit their music talent in this program.
Three judges for the show include famous songwriter and music producer Gao Xiaosong, CEO of Alibaba Music Group Song Ke and Malaysian Chinese award-winning singer-songwriter Eric Moo.
In front of this heavyweight trio in the music industry, Li Guangjie is frank about his anxiety.
"I didn't know the three judges before this program and I only watched their previous TV programs. Although I felt that they are all lenient with the contestants, I still couldn't help getting nervous on that occasion and this leads me to recall how I had been faced with the college entrance exam."
Despite being a bit nervous, the actor also thinks being part of the new show would promise greater value rewards in the future towards his goal of being an admirable actor.
"This program enables me to communicate with more new people in different professions, thus it would enrich our experiences. I also reckon it is an opportunity to help nurture and strengthen my acting skills."

China Box Office: 'Alice Through the Looking Glass' Tops Quiet Weekend With $27M
(THR) Disney's big-budget Alice Through the Looking Glass cruised to an easy first-place win at the Chinese box office, debuting to $27.1 million during a quiet late-May release window in the Middle Kingdom.
Stateside, Alice 2 has been decimated by Bryan Singer's X-Men: Apocalypse, which doesn't open in China until Friday, giving Disney a little breathing room.
Johnny Depp returns for the sequel as the Mad Hatter, while Mia Wasikowska is back as Alice. Tim Burton, whose Alice in Wonderland was a worldwide hit in 2010, topping $1 billion, declined to direct the sequel, which was instead helmed by James Bobin.
Burton's Alice grossed an impressive $33 million, which was the eighth-biggest overall performance of 2010. (But China's total box office was less than 25 percent its current size at that time.) To climb equally high in the Chinese charts in 2016, the sequel would have to pull at least $150 million, an unlikely feat given its modest debut and forthcoming competition.
After Apocalypse's debut Friday, Legendary Entertainment's Warcraft will open just five days later on June 3. The two action pictures are expected to command huge screen counts.
Coming in at No. 2, The Angry Birds Movie earned $13.5 million in its second weekend for a $52 million total after 10 days, according to Beijing-based box office monitor Ent Group.
Captain America: Civil War added $4.3 million for third place, bringing its China cume to $186.4 million. It is now the seventh-biggest imported movie ever in China, behind only Furious 7 Transformers: Age of Extinction, Zootopia, Avengers: Age of Ultron, JurassicWorld and Avatar.
In fourth, The Divergent Series: Allegiant earned a soft $2.7 million, bumping its ten-day total to $16.3 million.
Rounding out the top five was local art-house picture Song of the Phoenix, directed by the late Wu Tianming, a profoundly influential figure in the Chinese film world who died in March 2014. Completed in 2013 and released posthumously on May 6, the movie earned another $1 million from Friday to Sunday.
Phoenix has been buoyed by a publicity stunt orchestrated by Fang Li, one of Wu's producers. Shortly after the movie's debut, Fang recorded a video of himself kneeling, weeping and begging Chinese theater owners to give art-house films more screen time — the clip went viral and Fang got his wish.
Local observers say initial estimates for the movie were in the $1 million to $2 million range. After 24 days in cinemas, it has grossed $11.9 million. On Friday, Chinese regulators granted the film permission to screen for an extra month.

Chinese films escape busy 'Hollywood month'
(china.org) As a series of Hollywood blockbusters are set to release in China in June, several Chinese film distributors have to change their release schedule.
"X-Men: Apocalypse,""Warcraft,""Independence Day: Resurgence,""Finding Dory" and "Now You See Me 2" will jam the month of June during this summer’s film season, which will surely make it one of the hottest seasons in history. As a result, several Chinese films have to dodge these Hollywood monsters.
Critically applauded art-house film "Kaili Blues" by Bi Gan has pushed back its original release date of June 3 to July. "Bounty Hunters," directed by Shin Terra, starring Lee Min-ho and Wallace Chung, also changed its release date from June 9 to July 1. "One Night Only," directed by Wu Zhongtian, starring Aaron Kwok and Yang Zishan, changed its release date from June 9 to the end of July.
One of most anticipated films from director Johnnie To, "Three," also changed its original release date. Its release date has been moved from June 24 to a July release without direct confirmation.
It seems as though July will be much safer for Chinese domestic films as many Chinese local distributors don't want to clash with the Hollywood titans. It can also be expected that more Chinese films will change their release date in coming days.

An exciting month at the movies
(Sina) Summer always brings the heat in China, no matter if it's the weather or cinemas.
Looking at the slate of films set for June, the list contains a considerable range of choices for moviegoers. The beginning and end of the month looks like it will be crowded with blockbusters, while the middle of the month will be a little less competitive.
Early June
The month kicks off with the arrival of superhero action flick X-Men: Apocalypse, the sixth installment in the X-Men films. While not as well received by movie critics as Captain America: Civil War, the arrival of the film's director Bryan Singer and two lead actors to China to promote the film has built up anticipation among Chinese audiences.
Set for June 3, Apocalypse focuses on the different philosophies regarding mutant-human relations held by Professor X's X-Men team and an ancient mutant who takes survival of the fittest to the extreme. Set during the 1980s, the story continues that of the films X-Men: First Class (2011) and X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014).
Preview screenings of the film have resulted in a score of 7.6/10 from some 35,000 reviewers on IMDB, while it currently holds a 7.3/10 on mtime.com and 8.4/10 on movie.douban.com, two popular mainland review sites.
Following on Apocalypse's heels comes another Hollywood blockbuster: Warcraft. A major release for Universal Pictures this year, the film is based on the Warcraft series of video games and novels.
The story takes place on the world of Azeroth, where the peaceful lives of humanity are suddenly interrupted when a gateway known as the Dark Portal opens releasing hordes of orc warriors fleeing from an ancient evil.
In addition to starring Daniel Wu, an Chinese-American actor popular in the mainland, the video game has a hefty following in China, so the film already has an in-built audience base ready to see the film when it debuts in the mainland on June 8 in time for the Dragon Boat holiday.
Mid-June
Scheduled for June 17, Finding Dory is one of the month's most eye-catching films, especially for the kids.
A sequel to the 2003 Pixar animated film Finding Nemo, Finding Dory takes place six months after the original. Dory, the Pacific blue tang, suddenly recalls a childhood memory. Determined to find her parents, Dory is companied by her clownfish friend Marlin and his son Nemo. During their journey, they meet new friends such as Bailey, a white beluga whale, Destiny, a whale shark, and an octopus named Hank.
Behind the scenes, the film sees Andrew Stanton, director of the first film, joining hands with Angus MacLane, whose works include short film BURN-E and television special Toy Story of Terror!. The English version of the animated film sees Ellen DeGeneres and Albert Brooks return as the respective voices of Dory and Marlin, while newcomer Hayden Rolence takes over the role of Nemo.
Fans of art films actually have something to choose from this month. This year's Father's Day (June 19), sees the release of Seven Days, a black and white silent film that focuses on an elderly Chinese man's lonely life with fishes, birds and a child.
The directorial debut of young filmmaker Xing Jian, the film has already been screened at various film festivals such as the 71st Venice International Film Festival and 67th Cannes International Film Festival.
Easy to be neglected in the commercially dominated Chinese film market, Seven Days has chosen its timing wisely as no big blockbusters are set to debut that weekend.
Late June
June 24, a Friday, should be one of the hottest times of the month as a total of six films have chosen that day to fight it out for moviegoers' wallets. The three most likely contenders for the throne that day will be Independence Day: Resurgence, Now You See Me 2 and Three.
Roland Emmerich returns to direct Independence Day: Resurgence, a sequel to the 1996 film Independence Day that takes place 20 years after the first film. After defeating the aliens that threatened Earth in the first film, humanity has established the Earth Space Defense, a defense program salvaged from the remains of the alien forces to be used if they ever return. As predicted, the aliens arrive to conquer Earth yet again with an even more powerful battle fleet.
Actors Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman and Judd Hirsch return to reprise their original roles, while a group of younger faces, including Liam Hemsworth and Jessie Usher, join the cast.
For moviegoers in China, what is probably more exciting is that the country will also play a major part in saving the world in the new film.
Magic has always been something fascinating to see, especially when married to almighty film technology. Three years after magicians-as-thieves film Now You See Me left a strong impression on Chinese audiences, the Four Horsemen have returned to wow moviegoers once again. This time the group faces a tech genius who recruits them for their most challenging heist ever.
While the film sees several actors return, the film gets a new director in Jon M. Chu, a far lesser-known quantity.
Three, a mainland crime-action film, has been highly anticipated by audiences due to the involvement of Hong Kong director Johnnie To, who made a name for himself in this genre.
The film also features well-known stars Zhao Wei, Louis Koo and Wallace Chung. Three focuses on a confrontation that takes place between a detective, a gangster and a policeman in a hospital over the course of six hours.
While the film has only released a few trailers, comments by netizens have been fairly positive.
