Popular Hong Kong actor, film director, producer Eric Tsang has recently appeared at the Beijing Film Academy giving support for his son's directorial debut Soul Mate.
Soul Mate, an adaptation of the novel July and Ansheng, tells the story of two girls who have been friends since they were thirteen years old. The film will land in Chinese theatres on September 14th.
But according to director Derek Tsang, his father Eric Tsang's presence at the film's premiere has given him a pleasant surprise.
"I didn't know he would come today. I sent him a short message yesterday and got no reply. The film producer asked him to come, giving me a big surprise."
The film centers on two young girls who are childhood friends and happen to fall in love with the same guy called Jia Ming.
Actresses Zhou Dongyu and Ma Sichuan from the mainland are the two female protagonists. Taiwan actor Toby Lee plays Jia Ming.
